I’ve gotten dental implants placed but every time they put on the crowns it is painful. My oral surgeon can’t figure out why. Do you have any ideas?

Jennifer,
I’m assuming your dentist has given the traditional three or four months of healing time before placing stressful crowns on your dental implants? If so, there can be several other reasons for sensitivity. Here are some potential sources of pain for him to check:
- They can be pressing on a nerve
- They can be under too much stress
- They can be too small
- They can be placed in the wrong position
- They might have peri-implantitis or some other type of infection around them
You may want to follow up with a second opinion from a qualified implant dentist. Look for someone who has training from LVI.
