I have to get one of my teeth pulled and I’m terrified. I’m wondering if there is anything they can give me before the huge needle thing? I know you probably think I’m a baby, but I can’t stand needles.

Tiffany,
No, I don’t think you’re being a baby. A lot of patients feel the way you do. Ask your dentist if he does sedation dentistry. Sometimes your dentist can give you nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas. It will relax you and kind of take the edge off of everything, but you’ll still know what is going on. If you think you need something a little stronger, there is oral sedation. This puts you in a sleepy state, and most patients have no recollection of their visit.
