I had an implant crown placed less than a year ago. It kept catching food in the top of it, which meant I had to clean it every single time I ate. Now it has cracked and the food is going down deeper. Is there a warranty on implant crowns? What should I do?
Kevin C from Baltimore
Kevin,
Dentists don’t give warranties on dental implants as such because their are too many variables to consider, including whether the patients are properly caring for their dental work. That being said, an ethical dentist always stands behind their work. If a defect in the work or materials comes to light they would probably fix it free of charge. They aren’t under a legal obligation to do so, but they might do it anyway.
Also, for future reference, I would have gone in with the crown catching food. It shouldn’t be doing that, whether it is an implant crown or a regular dental crown.
