Aimee's Experience

I am a high achiever in sports, in my job, in my life. In the terms of my eating disorder, that has worked against me. I am a good swimmer and, in my teens, I set the highest of goals for myself.  I made the swim team and that’s when things started to become strained. No one could’ve met the impossibly high goals I had set for myself in sports and in school so I applied more and more pressure until my mind and body started to respond by engaging in bulimic behaviors. It was easy to do. I was good at it. And because I was so active I kept weight off. Meanwhile, I didn’t realize that my teeth were being weakened every time I did this until it was almost too late. It went on for years. Today, I still struggle, but my confidence has been restored when my smile was finally restored by Dr. McKay. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, I’m proud of myself and I’m very proud of my smile.  Dr. McKay’s deep understanding and empathy for my situation put me at ease. Without his non-judgmental support I’m not sure I could’ve done this. But I did get it done and it’s made a world of difference. I have a new job, a great new smile to go with it and I’ve turned the corner in my struggle. If I can I would like to recommend him to anyone with a history of bulimia, purging disorder or other eating disorder to get some smile therapy from Dr. McKay.
